ACTIVITY PROGRAM
The Madera Activity Program (MAP) provides social, self-advocacy training, and vocational, recreational, and educational services to enhance participant's personal independence in the community, at work and in their home.
Training is focused on the development of the whole person, and emphasis is placed on individual choice. Supervision is provided at a 1:3, 1:6 or 1:7 staff: client ratio, depending on program placement.
This program emphasizes community inclusion. The work component of this program helps participants to develop appropriate work behaviors, skills and habits by matching the individual's preferences and abilities to available work. Wages are based on individual productivity, and work is performed in the community and the facility. Community integration is a key component of this program, and provides participants with the opportunity to interact with the public and gain access to a wide variety of community services.
Training is also provided in self-advocacy and personal choice through various work, community and leisure activities, including participation in the local People First Chapter of California.
Individuals can also develop leisure skills through a variety of creative pursuits and instruction by qualified staff.
This program is available to clients living in Madera, Chowchilla, and surrounding areas.
