INDEPENDENT LIVING PROGRAM
The Independent Living Program (ILP), named "Partners for Independence," provides the necessary functional skills training and support to adults with disabilities for them to obtain or maintain an independent or semi-independent living situation. The objectives of this program are to increase the independent living skills of individuals who, for whatever reason, may not progress to living independently, as well as those who currently live on their own but could benefit from additional skills training. The program curriculum stresses individualized, one-to-one instruction, with clients moving through the program as they master new skills.
Individuals are not moved through the program based on time spent in training nor are they prevented from progressing because of behavior problems or other limiting conditions unrelated to the skill being taught.
Training is provided in the home and in the community in an extensive variety of areas, including cooking, housekeeping, health, grooming and hygiene, money management, safety and the use of community resources.
This service is available to individuals living in Madera and Mariposa Counties.
