Since June 26, 1973, Heartland has provided a continuum of services for adults with developmental disabilities residing in Madera County.  While Madera County continues to be the primary service area for our association, adjacent counties such as Mariposa are served.

Heartland is governed by a board of directors, whose composition includes parents, educators, business professionals and other members of the community. Our organization has a commitment to promote and ensure community, organizational, facility, and full program service accessibility to people with developmental disabilities. Our efforts in this regard are intended to achieve the following outcomes:

  1. Enhance the quality of life for those served in their programs and services.

  2. Implement nondiscriminatory employment practices.

  3. Meet legal and regulatory requirements.

  4. Meet the expectations of stakeholders in the area of accessibility.

Our Mission

It is Heartland Opportunity Center's mission to provide employment, job placement, vocational and life skills training to adults with mental, physical and/or emotional disabilities in order to help them reach their personal and vocational goals.

Our Vision

To be recognized as a premier provider of services that utilizes "best practices" in exercising its commitment to providing a range of programs and advocacy services for individuals with disabilities which enable those served to maximize their individual quality of life potential as contributing members of the community in which they reside.

Our Core Values

ALL PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE TREATED WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT.

ALL PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO SERVICES THAT ACHIEVE OPTIMAL OUTCOMES.
