EXTERNAL SITUATIONAL ASSESSMENT

External Situational Assessment (ESA) uses actual community job sites to evaluate individuals with disabilities while they experience the real demands of a work environment.

Participants develop awareness of their abilities and interests through working at one or more jobs during the six- to ten-day evaluation period.

A work evaluator provides one-to-one supervision, assessment of the individual's strengths and limitations, and identification of services that will aid in the removal of employment barriers. This service is available to individuals living in Madera and Mariposa Counties.

JOB EXPLORATION

Job exploration/job shadowing helps individuals with limited work exposure to learn the demands of specific jobs. Participants visit selected job sites to observe and interview employees as they perform their daily work activities.

Through this process, participants can gather the necessary information to make informed vocational choices. This service is beneficial to those seeking a job or making a career change and who need information about the specific requirements of various occupations.

A work evaluator accompanies each participant at all times during the course of service. This service is available to those who reside in Madera and Mariposa Counties.

PERSONAL AND SOCIAL ADJUSTMENT

Personal and Social Adjustment (PSA) services address specific behavioral barriers to competitive employment.

Individualized services are provided on a one-to-one basis and include training to develop appropriate work-related skills and behaviors in such areas as grooming and hygiene, mobility, safety, job preparation, and work maturity.

The length of training time to accomplish individual goals varies and may range from ten or more hours per month for a period of one to twelve months.

This service is also available to individuals living in Madera and Mariposa Counties.
